Subway wireless service has successful first month, including 911 calls, Transit Wireless reports
New York, NY [ Nov 01, 2011 ]: New York City straphangers in six Chelsea subway stations are satisfied and safer, after one month of underground wireless subway service, Transit Wireless reported today.
Wireless Service Begins at Six Underground Subway Stations
New York, NY [ Sep 27, 2011 ]: The Metropolitan Transportation Authority today launched wireless voice and data communication capability in six subway stations, allowing New York City subway riders to make and receive cell phone calls, send tweets and receive e-mail underground. MTA officials were joined by executives from Transit Wireless, AT & T, and T-Mobile to demonstrate the new capability at the 14th Street-8th Avenue station a full 10 months ahead of schedule.
Transit Wireless names William A Bayne Jr. as new CEO
New York, NY [ Jun 01, 2011 ]: Transit Wireless LLC, the company licensed by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority to build and operate a cellular and WiFi network in the New York City underground subway stations, has announced the appointment of William A. Bayne Jr. as CEO.
