RF Engineering Manager
Tasks
- Oversee and manage all technical matters to do with the wireless network design for Transit Wireless in the NYC subway, including the planning, design, operation and maintenance of the RF over fiber architecture to wireless service provider customers and to the MTA
- Set system performance specifications
- Develop and maintain system design
- Develop and maintain system link budgets and sustaining engineering in support of calculated performance
- Develop interference analysis and provide mitigation, fault remedy in the event of any occurrences
- Provide direction to project teams to ensure proper scopes, processes, procedures, and test plans are adhered to in the development and deployment of Transit Wireless' networks so as to perform to designed specifications and contracted service levels.
- Liaise with customers and MTA on specifications, interface matters and testing protocols.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers and MTA.
- Interface with key network equipment vendors. Set technical specifications for network equipment to be acquired. Monitor performance of vendors in association with Quality Manager and Procurement
- Develop maintenance plans to ensure optimum life of equipment and lowest cost of operation.
- Develop alternate network scenarios for consideration by Senior Management for better performance and lower cost of deployment and operation
- Provide technical sales support to Wireless Providers along with TW Business Team
- Support business development activities by analyzing technical solutions to add new services/applications to the network.
- Provide technical support to the Operations Manager and the NOC.
- Establish monitoring and reporting protocols that meet internal and customer KPI requirements
Experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in RF and fiber optic network deployment and operation
- Experience in complex DAS networks an advantage
- Minimum 5 years experience in management and leadership of technical teams.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Ability to present publicly.
- Good organizational skills.
- Knowledge and experience with Wireless Service Providers, their technical and business requirements
- Wireless Service Provider and/ or Public Safety Radio network experiences in design, operation and maintenance of wireless communication networks
- Subway experience not essential but an advantage
- IT network design and operating experience not essential but an advantage
Skills
- Efficient in Microsoft Office
- Anritsu or similar network test equipment certification, an advantage but not required
- BTS and Protocol training and certification preferred
- iBwave RF-vu experience and certification preferred
Education
- BS Engineering, MS preferred
