Technical Specialist Advanced Wireless Technologies

The BAI Group has an exciting opportunity for a senior Technical Specialist in advanced wireless technologies to support its business development and network deployment activities in transit systems, shared RAN networks, large venues and smart city opportunities in North America, Asia and Australia. Applicable wireless technologies include WiFi (especially the next generation WiFi technologies and hotspots), 3G/4G cellular including LTE-A, small cell technologies and next generation wireless backhaul.

Reporting to the Managing Director, International Business, the Technical Specialist will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical technical direction for the pursuit of wireless business opportunities in transit systems, smart cities, large venues and shared cellular networks and the deployment and operation of advanced wireless network deployments along with allied fibre networks.

The Technical Specialist will also be responsible for preparing reports for BAI’s Senior Management and Board on the trends of wireless communications technologies and the potential impacts on BAI’s business and will represent BAI at relevant industry events.

Successful applicants should possess:

• At least 10 years’ experience in wireless technologies with recent experience in a business development or similar role;
• Significant knowledge of wireless technology developments particularly in 4G cellular/LTE-A, next generation WiFi and small cells;
• Knowledge of fibre network technology would be an advantage, and
• Tertiary engineering qualifications

You will need to be highly agile, able to deal with a variable work load and to work with a small, professional team. You will need strong leadership skills and excellent communication and presentation skills.

The role will ideally be based in New York or Melbourne but other locations may be possible (e.g. Sydney).  Frequent international travel will be required. A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
